Born February 9, 1926, Mae Stockdale Staton, 97, widow of Harold Clay Staton, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, September 9, 2023.
She was the daughter of Lane and Mary Lee Stockdale. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Lane and Mary Lee Stockdale, her sisters, Hazel Larison (Harry), Ruby Trimble (Russ), Allene Griffin (Junior), Mary Sue Stockdale and a brother, Stanley Stockdale, Sr. (Lucy).
She is survived by daughters Betty Sue Staton and Cathy Staton Calvert (Bill) of Mt Sterling, one grandson David Clay Calvert (Anjuli) and great grandchildren Quinn Mae Calvert and William James Calvert (Will) of Louisville.
Mae was a longtime member of the First Church of God, an artist and a former member of the Bluegrass Cake Decorating Club in Lexington.
Visitation will be at the First Church of God, in Mt Sterling, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 pm. with funeral at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, with Pastor David Dooley officiating. No graveside committal service.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Sallie, Ronnie Stockdale, Stanley Stockdale Jr., David Calvert, Bill Calvert and Tom Martin.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Mt Sterling First Church of God Youth Building Fund.
