Betty Haynes Barnard, 97, of Mt. Sterling, passed away on Friday morning, September 9, 2022, at Windsor Care Center, Mt. Sterling. She was born on September 5, 1925, in Elizabethton, Tennessee, to the late Claude and Launa McClellan Haynes.
Betty lived in Montgomery County for over seventy-five years after attending the University of Kentucky where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College Bristol Virginia and retired as a bank teller with Traditional Bank, Mt. Sterling. She was an alter guild and choir member of Ascension Episcopal Church and also enjoyed golf and bridge. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her beloved son; Mike Barnard of Mt. Sterling; cherished daughter; Beverly King of Lexington; two grandchildren; Michael Myers (Shannon) of Lexington and Pam Smallwood (Scott) of Lakeside Park, Kentucky; five great grandchildren; Brice Smallwood (Jamie) of Erlanger, Griffin Smallwood of Lakeside Park, Walker Smallwood of Lakeside Park, Addison Myers of Lexington and Cooper Myers of Lexington; two sisters Claudette Toy of Mt. Sterling and Ann Watts of Elizabethton, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; dear friends, Stewart and Linda Turley.
In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by her husband; Ralph "Junie" Barnard, Jr., one sister; Beverly Haynes and special friend; Dr. Jack Razor
Memorial service will be held at 12:00PM on Friday, September 16, 2022. Visitation will be held prior at 11:00AM - 12:00PM. Both will be held at Ascension Episcopal Church 48 West High Street Mt. Sterling, KY 40353. Inurnment will follow at the Episcopal Church Garden. The Reverend Bruce Boss will be officiating.
